Preventative Medicine: Wellness care is tailored to your companion's needs. With regular, thorough physical exams and vaccinations appropriate to your pets' lifestyle, we can assist you in providing your pet the best possible care. In addition, periodic diagnostic blood testing can help identify problems so they can be treated early, or, if normal, provide comforting peace of mind.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. All anesthetized patients are observed by a surgical nurse with our multi-parameter monitor. It records ECG, SpO2, respiratory rate, temperature, non-invasive blood pressure, and airway gas monitoring of oxygen, CO2 and anesthetic gases. The results are then downloaded into the patients permanent medical record.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Anesthesia is not "one size fits all" but is tailored to fit each individual animal.
Specialist Consultations: We offer referrals to multiple specialists who help us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases. Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Neurology, and Internal Medicine Specialists for your pet that are located within a 40 mile radius from Phenix City, AL.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, digital X-ray equipment provides superior quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Every radiograph taken by us is reviewed by Signal Pet diagnostics, providing an additional evaluation and full report for us and for pet owners. Board certified radiologists are consulted as needed for full specialist reading.
Cardiography Services: Electrocardiograms are used for anesthesia monitoring as well as for diagnostic screening. The tracings are transmitted to a monitor and into the patients record. Consultations with cardiology specialists are also available.
Dentistry: Our dental services include ultrasonic teeth cleaning and polishing, as well as tooth extractions and oral surgery.

Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing.

Permanent identification: Companion Animal Hospital offers the HomeAgain Tempscan microchip identification. Not only does this allow quick, definitive and permanent identification, these chips give us the pets' temperature with only a scan. Microchipping is a simple procedure that only requires a quick trip to the clinic. The microchip is implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades.

Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of veterinary pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.
Specialty medications and flavored preparations may also be ordered for your pet through veterinary compounding pharmacies such as Roadrunner Veterinary Pharmacy/Covetrus.
Cryo Surgery: Our modern veterinary facility has the capabilities to remove many skin lesions with little to no anesthesia.
Pain Management: At Companion Animal Hospital, we are committed to ensuring that your pet experiences as little pain as possible. Pain management treatments that include: both injectable and oral, before surgery, during recovery and to go home. We also address chronic pain and discomfort and use multi-modal pain management to keep our patients comfortable. Dermatology, Skin Problems & Allergies: Skin problems are commonly associated with allergies in dogs and cats, but may be also a sign of serious internal diseases such as hypothyroidism, Cushings disease or cancer. Severe itching may be triggered by allergies or infection, but only by thorough examination and possibly testing such as fungal and bacterial cultures, skin scrapings for mites, allergy testing, microscopic exam, and biopsy can the cause be determined and properly treated.

Boarding: We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. Pets are all housed indoors in runs or smaller compartments, and have supervised exercise in multiple fenced activity yards. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Friday.
Bathing: Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.
House Calls: House calls are available by appointment only with approval from one of our doctors.

Regular lab testing is even more important in senior pets to prevent, detect, and monitor diseases they may develop. Older pets may be treated for liver and kidney diseases, diabetes, cataracts, arthritis, incontinence and dementia. When the time comes, hospice-type care can be provided for your pet's peace and comfort.
Pet Loss: Losing a beloved companion is a painful experience. They give us all the love they have and then one day, unfortunately, they leave us. Sometimes we must make a difficult decision. Our Veterinarians and staff are here for you during those hard times.
